Their destinies were intertwined. . .

Aradia Lykopis is the leader of a group of Amazeen women warriors. When she learns two of her members have been captured by the fearful Rysalians, she hopes to avoid war by volunteering to go rescue them herself. Her journey leads her to stop at an inn for food and shelter, there she finds herself drawn to a dark and mysterious man. She is puzzled at why this man seems so familiar, it as though they have met at another time and place. She learns that his name is Lord Jaelan Ben-Ashaman, and he is a Shadowlord. His position holds much influence and power and he is feared by many. She knows this type of ally could prove invaluable if she could be able to convince him to join her crusade. At what sacrifice is she willing to make to gain the support of this mighty warrior?

Jaelan Ben-Ashaman's life has been filled with unspeakable pain and soul drenching sorrow. There has been one person who he felt he owed his life to--for she had sacrificed her own love and happiness to grant him the ability to live. Her selfless act of kindness on that one fateful day has burned an image that still resides in his memory. He immediately recognizes Aradia Lykopis when he first entered the inn, for she was the same one that had been in his dreams, thoughts, and unrestricted heart. Although she tried to disguise her identity, his inner soul recognized her as the woman who was responsible for his very existence. He felt himself compelled to learn what had brought her to this forbidden land. He is surprised when she sought him out and asked for his help to save her captured Amazeen friends. He knows this is a prime opportunity to keep her in his life forever. In exchange for his services, the price he requires is for her to be joined with him through all eternity. Will the love he has finally found deliver death and destruction to his doorstep?

Angie Evans Reviews

I believe Charlotte Boyett-Compo has lived these stories before, maybe through her vivid dreams, because she writes as if she has had first-hand experience of everything that happens. She writes passionately and fluently, and conveys such excitement that she leaves you wanting more. Characters are lively and believable, and above all, spirited. There are no dull or boring people in Ms. Boyett-Compo's tales, and her novels always end too soon for me. The heroine is beautiful, the hero devastatingly handsome, and the villain's are evil, and thus another great epic story has been set up. If you enjoy dark supernatural romances, you will love this one. I can't wait for the next installment.

SIME~GEN

This is the beginning of a new trilogy by the master of intrigue herself. It is a book like no other of Charlotte Boyett-Compo's. However, I found I loved it just as much as I have all her other books.

I have found this author to attain a truly awe-inspiring level of intensity and emotion in her books. If you read no other author this year you must read Charlotte Boyett-Compo's books. This author leaves you wanting more regardless which series or story you are reading. I for one am not only a dedicated fan, but she is on my list of must review for.

Fallen Angel Reviews

5 Angels

I was completely and entirely captivated by is story. The ShadowWind Trilogy Book I: The Shadowlord is a book that encompasses all the features of an excellent story. This book has mystery and intrigue, action and adventure, as well as a love that defies time and reason. The plot is thrilling as well as heart stopping. The character development is outstanding; there are characters readers will love and some that they will love to hate. Charlotte Boyett-Compo doesn’t stop with the main characters; the secondary roles are just as excellent. The friendships Jaelan has with the other Dark Lords is touching. The inexplicable bond and trust that develops between Jaelen and Aradia is realistically portrayed; they haven’t just met, their first meeting established a connection. It isn’t often that I will stay up all night to read a book, but with The ShadowWind Trilogy Book I: The Shadowlord, I saw the sun rise. I could not put this book down. Charlotte Boyett-Compo has magnificently crafted this story and I cannot wait for book 2. I highly recommend this book and this author. 5 Angels!

Sensuality rating: Very sensual

This was one of the best books I have read in a long time. Aradia was a strong, independent woman who for once didn't come across as a nasty person at first. Jaelan was wonderful, he was so abused as a youth but managed to rise above it. It is not a normal fairy tale romance; it has a couple twists that are unexpected, like Aradia being in a good relationship before Jaelan. I was rooting for the couple the whole way through the book. The only thing that disappointed me was the ending… I have to wait until the next installment before I find out what happens to them as a couple. The two seem to fall naturally for each other, and I loved how protective Aradia was of Jaelan, even though he was more than capable of taking care of himself. The best part was that Aradia was more than able to fight for him! Great book, and highly recommended!

Romantic Interludes

4 Slippers

THE SHADOWLORD is a very clever piece of literature. Various scenes within this book will have you identifying it with real life. The bitchiness between women, the humor, the disgust—it’s all there. Charlotte Boyett-Comp has left her readers with unanswered questions, questions that will undoubtedly be answered in the following two books of this trilogy. Lovers of fantasy romance will love this series by Ms. Boyett-Comp. She has skillfully transcribed her imagination into this book. You can see the scenes in your mind’s eye, and that is what a good author does.

The Road to Romance Reviews

Strong, empowered heroine -- dark, handsomely mysterious hero -- greed, passion, and evil -- all the makings of a sensational series. If SHADOWLORD is any hint of what’s to come in Charlotte Boyett-Compo’s Shadowwind series, then we are in for a treat. SHADOWLORD has stunning visuals that shift the story to movie mode while you are reading it. With two alpha leads like Aradia and Jealen, there are bound to be some sparks flying and Ms. Boyett-Compo doesn’t disappoint. I’m looking forward to the future of the Shadowwind series, not only to continue Jaelan and Aradia’s story, but for some of the wonderfully funny secondary characters as well.

A ROMANCE REVIEW

Intrigue and adventure abound in the lives of these characters. They are well developed, having their own motivations, but their loyalty and love grows as the danger increases. The story is fast paced. Charlotte Boyett-Compo creates a world rich with texture and emotions.

The Shadowlord is an excellent beginning to an exciting and interesting series.

4.65 stars out 5

Mistress of the masterfully crafted tale, I always look forward to reading Charlee's books.

What Ms. Compo has done is create a remarkable world setting of psychic powers, evil schemers, courageous women and daring heroes. As with her heroes, Ms. Compo's heroines are free to be courageous and daring, just as her villains are free to be perfectly villainous, rather than the spineless bad guys so often portrayed in romance novels that crumple like cardboard the instant the hero arrives on the scene.

As usual I won't divulge any details of the plot elements here. A reviewer saying too much can really spoil a book for the reader. What I will say is that this book was excellent and is on my to be reread list. I loved Aradia and her loyalty to family, her self assurance and fierceness. And Jaelan was everything a romance hero should be, in short he was heroic. As a man trapped between duty and desire Charlee has crafted yet another hero sure to please romance fans.

I was so intrigued and moved by this story. When it ended I wanted to scream out in protest. Waiting for Book 2 will be a long, drawn out nightmare. The characters were so loveable and real. You feel their hurt, their pain and most certainly their love. Charlotte Boyett-Compo has outdone herself with the Shadowlord. A must read for anyone who loves strong heroes and strong heroines.

Romance Reviews Today

A fantastic story with an intricate and well-executed plot, SHADOWLORD combines great action, a wonderful romance, humor, and tragedy. Aradia and Jaelan are made for each other. She is a woman attracted to strong men, and he is a man who needs a woman's touch to realize he's more than the Shadowlord. Both have had difficult pasts, with Jaelan even suffering a few years as a slave, but the lessons they learned, in life and love, have made them stronger. Hopefully strong enough to face the future perils fate has in store for them.

Equally as important as Aradia and Jaelan's romance are the agendas of the secondary characters that surround them. From the King to a concubine, everyone wants a piece of the action, and Aradia and Jaelan must determine who is friend or foe. This is a well-told tale with enough twists and turns to keep readers guessing until the very end and beyond. There are several large hints that there will be, at least, a sequel to this tale and this reader can't wait.

Pick up your copy of SHADOWLORD today and join the adventure.

ECATAROMANCE SENSUAL REVIEWS

5 Stars

Charlotte Boyett-Compo introduces the reader to a world filled with extremes. A powerful love story fills this book. Evil forces are at work that affects everyone in the kingdom. A dark brotherhood wants to rule the lives of all the people and jealousy can make people do strange things. This story has something for every reader, in addition to the hot love story of Jaelan and Aradia, there is action and adventure to satisfy any palate. I cannot wait to find out what happens next to Jaelan and Aradia.

LOVE ROMANCES AND MORE REVIEWS

In classic Boyett-Compo style, the world building is so meticulous that the reader will feel as though they have left the planet earth and the characters are so lifelike that they spring from the pages. Aradia had once loved a man and fears being tempted to do so again. Jaelin is accustomed to being in charge yet is unable to control his feelings for Aradia, the one woman that he can not control. Orithia will do everything she can to ensure she is Queen, if not of her own people then of the Rysalians and she does not care who she hurts to do so. Kathleen watches from her silken prison and attempts to keep Jaelin safe.

This reviewer heartily recommends SHADOWLORD to any readers who enjoy high fantasy with very strong romantic overtones.

THE ROMANCE STUDIO

Shadowlord by Charlotte Boyett-Compo is another of her exciting adventures in the lives of characters that find themselves being manipulated and tortured by the power hungry Brothers of the Domination. Jaelan has lived a hard tortured life and is misunderstood by many. He finds a little happiness in the arms of Aradia only to find their happiness threatened. Aradia is willing to be exiled from her people to be with the man she comes to love but she is not strong enough to keep him safe from all the dangers he must face. True romantics believe love is something to fight for, even die for, if needed to protect the loved one. This is such a romance. Love does not come easy and can be taken from you at any minute. The characters must cherish the time they have together. The passion burns at a volcanic level. There are included in this story several explicitly graphic scenes depicting their intimate encounters. Jaelan is possessive and goes about to let Aradia know who owns her. That is fine by Aradia because she is just as possessive when it comes to Jaelan. The story is filled with exciting action as Jaelan and Aradia do battle with their enemies. Heads actually roll in this story, blood flies and swords clang; the author’s descriptions bring the battle to life for the reader. Emotion-provoking, the reader is made to feel sorry for the pain that strong men are made to experience at the hands of those Brothers of the Dominance. It leaves the reader anxiously waiting for the next story in hopes of seeing the tides turn and the Brothers pay. Shadowlord by Charlotte Boyett-Compo is a passionate action-packed erotic fantasy that I highly recommend to the readers.

TWO LIPS REVIEWS

Charlotte Boyett-Compo lives up to her reputation once again with this complex fantasy novel. The characters are rich and compelling, and the plot convoluted enough to keep the reader guessing. Ms. Boyett-Compo’s world-building talents and rich hand at descriptive settings are present once again. Shadowlord will take its place in the pantheon of excellent fantasy and science fiction novels by the most imaginative Charlotte Boyett-Compo.
