Very Highly RecommendedAs danger brews on earth as well, deadly plots for power stalk the universe, proving once again author Charlotte Boyett-Compo's talent for creating a boldly terse, wildly violent, dangerously addictive read. This is a frightful world where assassins are genetically engineered, cruel manipulations abound, and slavery is commonplace. Cruelty, honor, and tenderness coexist in a fast paced plot of incredible intensity where choices are dictated by survival. Indeed, the fabulously detailed dark mythos that lends structure to this series reveals Boyett-Compo to be one of the most talented authors of our time. Readers will eagerly await the conclusion of this series which will bring son and sire together. A gritty, intricately woven tale, DARKWIND comes very highly recommended.

E rating, for excellent and extraordinary
I haven't read the first book in this series, "BLOODWIND", and while I
think this would be better if read in the correct order, I loved this one. Now I just
have to get a copy of BloodWind. The characters are so well written that when Kamerone
was bitten, I flinched, when Kamerone refused to touch his new son, I wanted to
cry for Bridget. Even though this is set in the distant future, there are enough
similarities/references to things in our world, that I wasn't lost even
once.
Thank you, Charlee, for another great one, or should I say another great
series. You just keep getting better and better and everything that I've read of
yours proves it. If I had to rate this one, I'd give it an E rating, for excellent
and extraordinary.

Amazing...BloodWind and DarkWind of the WindDemon Trilogy were highly enjoyable. I anxiously read both stories wanting to hear more when they were thru. Don't even bother just ordering one, you'll be very disappointed if you don't have the second to continue. Charlotte Boyett-Compo has once again shown she has an insight for Sci-Fi that looks father than our universe to the possibilities that lie beyond. I guarantee you will be held captive through the very last page. By the way, this is a trilogy, so be looking for the last of the three stories.

The Eternal Night
This book contains more romantic elements than books I would normally read,
there is no getting away from the fact that this is a romance on a space
ship against the backdrop of a galactic war. That said, however, the
ongoing battle between the Rysalians and Amazeens is sufficiently SF to
keep my interest. That and the fact that the authors writing style and
ability to make the characters come to life make this book easy to read and
make the 300 pages fly past. me but everything is
set up rather well for the final book in the set.Being the middle book in a trilogy it is a
transitional tale. Nothing is concluded in this volume.
If you like pure hard SF then the romantic elements of this book might mean
that this is not the best of reads for you to select, but if you like
character interactions (and a little bit of romance here and there) then
this should fit the bill rather nicely.

"This is a follow up book to BloodWind. I think it was even more intense then the first. Charlotte Boyett-Compo's writing style is absolutely inspiring. She will have you riveted to the story until the very end. Don't pick this up unless you are prepared to leave everything else alone. You won't want to put it down and won't want to stop until you are finished. By the end the story will leave you desperately wanting more."

Highly recommended
DarkWind is Book II in the WindDemon Trilogy and I highly recommend it. But I must say that in order to truly appreciate it, you should seriously consider reading BloodWind first! This book will introduce you to the Prime
Reaper, Kamerone Cree. Charlotte Boyett-Compo once again had me sitting on the edge of my chair, turning pages into the wee hours of the night because I had to know what would happen next. I would also consider a box of tissues at the bedside. I anxiously await book III in this trilogy. This book is R rated.

Well, she did it again. Like with The WindHealer, Ms. Boyett-Compo set up one
heck of a page-turner only to leave it hanging, forcing you to wait for the next
book to find out what happens. Unlike BloodWind, which had some kind of
closure, DarkWind leaves you hanging just when things couldn?t get more
interesting. Not fair! Frustration aside, this is one heck of a futuristic
book. It?s dark, but there?s a heavy romantic element that can?t be denied?so
romance readers will love it too. Just be prepared to bite your nails and
scream when you come to the end. The good news is that the next book, EvilWind,
should be out soon.
If you?re a fan of Ms. Boyett-Compo and have read any of her Wind books, don?t
miss DarkWind. (You may want to pick up BloodWind too, and read it first) It?s
a page-turner you won?t be able to put down, and worth every penny of the
coverprice.

FIVE STARS
Darkwind is the second book (in theWind Demon Trilogy). Charlotte Boyett-Compo has again created a wonderful world of escape and awe. This book sizzles from the start. The characters are sexy and edgy. The story is fresh and moves quickly. A cross between a great fantasy, romance novel and a sharp sci-fi excursion, it transports you to a world without time in outer space. Once more get ready for strong, powerful, exciting women and hot, sulphurous, spirited, macho-men! Put the kids to bed, crawl into bed and get ready for a sensual romp in deep space. This book is highly recommended as a wonderful, fantastic read. If you have not read the first book in the series, Blood Wind, now would be a great time to start!
Out of a possible five stars this books gets five stars!!!

Book II of the Wind Demon Trilogy has surpassed even the first.
The warrior Kamerone has lost none of his Reaper skills, as the mad doctor with the Amazeens learn. Seperated from Bridget, he will fight to survive, but his broken heart, his shattered, lonely soul lives in unceasing torment at his exile from all he loves.
Meet warriors that will make your heart sigh, your body tremble in this creatively written novel. Ms. Compo's imagination knows no bounds as she enters into a story, exacting in detail, and character presentation. She has, with a brilliant, masterful touch woven a story that will linger in your mind long after you've closed the pages of the novel.
Four and a half stars to this incomparable story, and the wonderful, sensual heroes that will linger not just in your heart, but your dreams many nights after the book has been finished.

Darkwind, the enthralling sequel to Bloodwind,...oozes with tension and suspense.
(The) characters are vividly described. Not only do they have traits ranging beyond our Earthly experiences, but they have familiar attributes, as well. Khiershon may be a much feared Reaper, but he is also sensitive and caring. Caitlin possesses the reasoning skills of a scientist, yet she trusts her intuition about Khiershon--whether under his spell or not. And the Prime Reaper, Kamerone Cree, though he is obviously in love with his wife, we become deeply concerned when we find out his marriage is in trouble.
Darkwind is another page-flipping marvel by Boyett-Compo. Who else can make a dreamy hero out of a guy who "transitions" into a... Oh, I can't! It's too shocking to explain! But what I can tell you is that with Darkwind, I guarantee you heart-pounding action and outa-this-world suspense! The ending will leave you clamoring for the next installment!

"Talespinner" Charlotte Boyett-Compo deftly uses horror figures and places them in outer space so that readers obtain a supernatural space opera that works on several levels. The two major story lines compete for supremacy, but neither succeeds so that the audience is a bit confused until Ms. Boyett-Compo brings the duo plots into one theme. The characters feel genuine whether he or she is a creature of the night or full moon, an earthling, or a distaff Multitude member. Fans who want to try something a bit different should read this space adventure with horror elements as well as the first book in the WindDemon trilogy, BLOODWIND as well as other "Wind" novels.

I have tried to bring to you books that, while they may not fit the erotica genre classification by definition, provide examples of great writing and an ability to handle mature themes. Therefore, simply because it is a great book, beyond its mature themes, secondary story and few erotic elements, I selected for this month, DarkWind by Charlotte Boyett-Compo.
I usually try to stay away from a series I can’t read from the beginning, because it usually leads to a bad reading experience. However, my fears were ungrounded and this is simply a wonderful book. I have no idea how the other ones are, but if they are even close to this one in regards to the quality story telling, you are in for a real treat.
Combining romance, science fiction, fantasy and other elements, this novel was simply a great read. The characters are complex and engaging with great writing as well as some humorous interjections and social commentary. This novel was extraordinary and simply a pleasure to read from start to finish. This is one novel, even if you are not a fan of fantasy, which is well worth the investment. Enjoy!

"Ms. Boyett-Compo succeeds is surpassing the first of this series.
This story made Kamerone more human and less of a pawn (although he
was not in the first either) and introduces his Blood-son Khiershon.
Although father and son do not meet nor do the stories ever really
intermingle, they are strong and cohesive. Each story in the book is
filled with emotional and physical roller coaster rides and each has
you waiting to see what happens next. This was a superb book and I
absolutely cannot wait for the third in the trilogy."

TIMELESS TALES
DarkWind, second book in the Demonwind Trilogy, by Charlotte Boyett-Compo, is an excellent read and can be enjoyed as a stand-alone.
DarkWind is a well-written piece with an intriguing plot. The action (is) brisk and holds the reader's interest to the very end. This novel is so enticing that this reader intends to purchase the first book to learn more about the Amazeen's war. I'm also anxious to see what happens in the last book of the trilogy. This novel would appeal to readers who enjoy vampire or werewolf books since the Reaper is a similar shape-shifting creature. It will appeal most to readers who enjoy a novel with a strong science fiction plot with some romantic aspects.

Although this was the second book in Ms. Compo’s WindDemon
Trilogy, I had no difficulty jumping right in with the story. It
was well written and easy to follow. I saw some excellent
character development in all the main characters, and the ending
left me wanting to see what happens in the next book. I would
highly recommend this one to anyone who enjoys sci-fi and demon
romance. Very well done, Ms. Compo.

Awesome story, 5 Angels!!!
Once again, Charlotte Boyett-Compo, shows us why she is considered a must read author. DarkWind is positively remarkable! In DarkWind, Charlotte Boyett-Compo offers us the story of Khiershon Cree and Caitlin and also Kamerone Cree and Bridget. Reapers are notorious for having suffered through unspeakable agonies. Only when they find their mate, do they begin to find any amount of happiness. For Cree and Bridget, they are torn apart and the scenes in which it happens are heartbreaking. As Bridget learns why Cree acted the way that he did, her realizations are as equally heart wrenching. Ms. Boyett-Compo clearly demonstrates the devastation felt by Cree and Bridget so that readers are as similarly affected. For Khiershon Cree and Caitlin the intensity is the same, just in a different manner. For this Cree, he has just found his mate and is faced with the challenge of convincing her he is not a monster. Caitlin’s fear is not only understandable it’s completely reasonable. Although she knows Cree would never hurt her, she still fears the unknown. Ms. Boyett-Compo never falters in creating characters her readers can relate to and offering a story that you cannot put down. If you’re anything like me, the conclusion of DarkWind will have you sending an e-mail to Ms. Boyett-Compo at 3 in the morning, demanding the third book in the series. :-)

Romantic Interludes
5 Slippers
DARKWIND continues the BLOODWIND story into the next generation, with only a gap of the months of Bridie’s gestation and childbirth. As in the rest of Charlotte Boyett-Compo’s fiction, this is an emotional roller coaster, a compelling read populated by characters who are very real in spite of unnatural elements like shape-shifting, telepathy, and evil parasites controlling their host-assassins. These characters deal with unreasonable superiors, slavery, revolution, inequality between the sexes, loneliness and acceptance, love and hate. The mythology of Charlotte Boyett-Compo’s dark universe is seamlessly integrated from work to work, building a complicated yet networked cosmos that is as tangible as and far more terrifying than our own. A superior read. But keep the lights on.

5 Moons, Outstanding!
DARKWIND is a thrilling science fiction romance, that kept me enthralled from beginning to end. Poor Camerone. I thought after BLOODWIND he would finally have some peace. Camerone is the Prime
Reaper, one of the most feared beings in the galaxy. However, he is very misunderstood and is in actuality a very good man. Khiershon is, also a very good man.
Author Charlotte Boyett- Compo sure knows how to torture her characters and her readers!. She ends with a cliffhanger and now I must read the next book--IMMEDIATELY! Hurry, Hurry, Charlee!!

As usual with Ms Boyett-Compo's work, it's hard to do justice to her incredible talent for world-building and character creation. The Reapers are a truly magnificent literary invention, and Khierson and Kamerone are prime examples of their kind. Full of passion, desperation, angst and excitement, 'DarkWind' will take you on a roller coaster ride into this rich and vivid world. Recommended.

Once again, the incomparable author Charlotte Boyett-Compo delivers a riveting, detailed, yet fast-paced story that will keep the reader on the edge of the seat. Ms. Boyett-Compo displays a vast imagination that makes her complex world-building realistic and true-to-life, and even the humanoid characters of the Reapers are detailed as empathetic and occasionally appealing. A true combination of futuristic, science fiction, and fantasy, DarkWind is a story well worth reading, whether as a continuation of the Wind Demon Trilogy, or as an introduction to the illustrious Ms. Boyett-Compo.

FALLEN ANGEL REVIEWS: second look

In a blend of two different stories taking place in varying parts of the universe, Dark Wind provides us with an up close and personal look at the stories of Prime Reaper Kamerone Cree and one of his blood line, Khierson Cree. Charlotte Boyett-Compo knows she will always be the Queen of mystification. I didn’t know what to think when in midstream a story I was really getting into changed to the drama unfolding in another part of the universe. Thinking a mistake was made in production, I found myself getting a little miffed until, with a little help from another fan, I was made aware that Ms. Boyett-Compo’s brilliance was at work yet again. Blending two action packed stories into one overflowing novel is something only she can pull off. This world of Reapers and their ever-escalating riff with the Amazeens had me waiting for the next tense moment or gentle scene that brought humanization to a creature most would fear. DarkWind is actually part two of this Reaper series and to ensure a full understanding I recommend reading the book BloodWind first.

DEMONWIND TRILOGY BOOK 2: DARKWIND is a story of surprises. Charlotte Boyett-Compo throws all kinds of curves in this second story of the trilogy. Once again, I was caught up in the story from the very first page until the last one. This is one of those stories you just don’t want to put down because the action is nonstop. We have Kamerone trying to reconcile himself to his current life, while the love of his life can’t understand why he won’t bond with their son. We also get to meet one of Kamerone’s sons, Khiershon, and the love of his wife, Caitlin, a woman who doesn’t take anything from anyone and will fight for what she believes in. While this story does leave a lot of unanswered questions, I’m confident they will all be neatly tied up in the final book in this trilogy and can’t wait to read it. As with all of Charlotte Boyett-Compo’s stories, I highly recommend the DEMONWIND TRILOGY.
